Wisconsin
I've heard that I haven't been putting enough story for people to read along with all of the photos, so for the car shows in Wisconsin, I decided to run it more like a journal...hope you enjoy! This was a Friday like many friday's that I've had before... Up at 5
AM knowing that I would be on my bike performing for a large crowd of
people in a mere 14 hours. Up a little early you might say? Well, I still
had 1800 miles to travel before I was actually where the event was to
take place...I woke my younger brother up to make a trip to the airport,
had to catch a 7:25 flight. I've accepted the fact that I need to make
it to the airport a couple hours early do to the 'random'
searches that I never fail to miss... It starts right at the check-in
counter when they require an extra search of my bags by the "CTI"
machine (I'm pretty sure that stands for Certified To Annoy). After which
it's off to the strip search (this part I kinda like...ok, not really).
I make sure to remove anything and everything I can, while remaining modest
in my appearance (if they would allow me to just get into my boxers, I
would, just to expedite the situation). Between the bike chain that has
been on my kneck for over 5 years and the titanium plates in my ankle,
I always seem to set off the metal detectors, which in turn requires an
additional search with the 'magic wand'...Once through all the security
measures, I'm allowed to spend a little time organizing photos on my laptop
getting them ready to put up on the site. |
![]() Ron Thomas is one of the young guns out of the Mid-West that you should be keeping your eyes on! Here he flairs with ease for the Milwaukee crowds! Photo Gallery Day
1, Day 2 The first flight goes by rather quickly and between my layover in Denver and my final flight to Milwaukee, I managed to finish the 3rd days photo gallery for the Houston car shows (you should check those out when you get a chance!). I was greeted at the airport by Dan Seig and Ron Thomas, two of the three powerhouse riders that were going to be rockin' the state fairgrounds later that evening. I managed to get an early enough flight to allow me to hit up our hotel for a couple hours of rest, relaxation, and...oh yes, putting my bike together. I'm frequently asked if we have a bike mechanic that tours with us, or a set up crew that sets up the ramps, or driver that brings the rigs in, and the answer to that, we have hard working bmx bike riders that work with our company to achieve some amazing results...the 'do it all' type mentality goes a long way in our chosen profession... Especially if you are one of our managers (just a quick thanks to you guys: Hubbard, Shaw, Scarborough, Bethers....they are the oil in this crazy tour machine, keep up the great job!)!!! More>>> |
